I just found out 2 great features from BigCommerce here:

when you add an item on the basket, immediatly an upsell popup jumps in with multiple choices.
This is great for upselling and getting higher cart values.(Edited by admin) -

Add pop-up-elements that can be used to show a sale or something like that, similar to the Quickview-window
