Native support for labeling AI-generated images (EU AI Act compliance)
Starting August 2, 2026, parts of the EU AI Act introduce transparency obligations for certain AI-generated content. Depending on the use case, businesses may be required to clearly disclose when images have been generated or significantly modified by AI.
Currently, Shopware 6 does not provide a native way to mark/label AI-generated media.
Proposal - Add native support for labeling AI-generated media, for example by providing:
- A dedicated "AI-generated" flag on media assets
- Automatic rendering of a configurable disclosure in the storefront
- Flexible configuration options for where and how the label is displayed
Benefits:
- Helps merchants comply with the transparency requirements of the EU AI Act
- Eliminates the need for custom implementations or workarounds
- Provides a consistent, standardized solution across all storefronts
- Supports the increasing use of AI-generated product and marketing images
