If you are owner of a Evolve license or higher, you can use Shopwares Dynamic Access feature as workaround, which allows to use Rules from the Rulebuilder.

This allows you to define that products, categories, and CMS Elements are only shown in the storefront when the connected rule is successful. And with the Rulebuilder, you can build rules that are only successful in a specific timeframe or even only for designated customer groups. :)
